GUERILLA MARKETING 101

First, let me give credit to the Author of the book Guerilla Marketing for many of Winston’s thoughts and ideas, and let me tell you that Winston considers it a must-read.

Please remember that the first and foremost goal for all of us should be TO INSPIRE HEALTH CONSCIOUS INDIVIDUALS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR PETS’ HEALTH AND WELL- BEING.

There are a million different ways that you can market your products and your store with very little outlay of cash. The first and foremost thing is that you need to do is:

GET ORGANIZED

No matter what you are doing you need to start some systems and repeat them every month or every week. At this point set up a calendar on the wall where you can’t miss it, and it might look something like this:

1st of the month - Complete your financial books for the previous month and pay out any spiffs due to your employees in cash out of your pocket.

2nd – Change brochures/samples to hand out (more on this later).

3rd - Submit any co-op advertising bills to manufacturers and distributors.

5th – Send a second billing to any manufacturers or distributors that have not paid last month’s co-op submission.

9th - Change ½ of the end caps in your store. Yes they need to be changed monthly. When you change it ask your distributor reps to bring in suggestions for next month’s end caps no later than the 25th of this month.

11th - Walk your store and review for dead merchandise. Ask yourself why it is not selling, and if it is not profitable to keep, GET RID OF IT! It’s just wasting valuable space.

15th - Change the 2nd half of the end caps in your store.

17th - Hold monthly meetings to educate your employees on current and new products.

19th - Schedule lunch with a networking partner-Vet or Groomer or Breeder. This should be someone with whom you can network and gain customers by cross referrals.

21st - Call any manufacturers or distributors that have not paid the previous month’s co-op submission.

25th - Finalize and order product for next month’s end caps.

Until Next Time,

Winston-

In the upcoming newsletters Winston will detail how to utilize many of these ideas. Please feel free to write us with your ideas, so that we might share them with other dealers.

Thank you for caring enough about our industry and the animals to read this letter.
